LUCY BRADLEY
Community and Education
Participation has always played a large part in Lucy's work both in Theatre and Opera. Lucy is passionate about championing voices rarely heard in performance through the process and content of her work.
As a practitioner, Lucy has often worked with marginalised or hard to reach groups; she has led projects in pupil referral units, within refugee centres, has worked with vulnerable young people and those at risk of exclusion. Inclusion and empowerment are at the heart of Lucy's work.
Lucy has a longstanding relationship with Glyndebourne Education and she is the current Director of Glyndebourne Youth Opera. In 2017 Lucy Directed Belongings, a new commission by composer in residence Lewis Murphy and librettist Laura Attridge. In 2014 Lucy co-directed Tycho's dream, by Luke Styles and Peter Cant. Previous education projects have included directing Into the Harbour and Til the summer comes again as well as leading the in schools project Glyndebourne Young Voices. Lucy was the Assistant Director on Nothing (working alongside Bijan Sheibani) and Knight Crew (working alongside John Fulljames)
Lucy's work with Glyndebourne has also led to her involvement in TCFT (The complete freedom of Truth), where she worked with young refugees in Sarteano, Italy and ran a residential project in Battle, Sussex in 2018.
Lucy has led creative and theatre projects for - The Barbican, The Young Vic, Southwark Playhouse, BAC, Mahogany Opera Group, The Opera Group, South London Gallery, East Side Education, Rifco Arts, Creative Partnerships, Slough Council, Surrey Arts.
Between 2008 and 2013 Lucy was the Artistic Director of Peckham Shed, an inclusive theatre company.
Previously Lucy led outreach for Rifco Arts, a British Asian theatre company touring Nationally.
